Why blur fill beats plain bars on social feeds
Solid white or black padding keeps every pixel of your photo — but on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn it can look like a postcard with letterbox bars. A blurred background square uses a soft, zoomed copy of the same image to fill those strips, so the square feels continuous while your sharp photo stays fully visible in the center.
This is the look people mean by blur frame, blur fit, blur box or blurred square: nothing is cropped, the canvas is a perfect 1:1, and the empty space inherits your photo's colors instead of a flat fill.
Tune the blur radius until the fill is soft enough to stay in the background. Lower values keep more texture; higher values melt into a gentle color wash. Export defaults to 1080 × 1080 for feed posts, with 500 and 2048 presets when you need a WhatsApp DP or a high-resolution master.
